Kashgar, an oasis city in Xinjiang, is one of the westernmost cities of China, located near the borders of Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Tajikistan. It has a history of over 2,000 years and served as a trading post and strategically important city on the Silk Road between China, the Middle East and Europe.
Day 2

Kashgar to Tashkorgan

Activities: Drive along the KKH, Stop at Opal Village, Oytagh Kunlunshan Colorful mountain range, Gaz Valley and check point, Bulungkol Valley (white sand mountain), Karakul lake and local Kyrgyz family visit
We set out along the Sino – Pakistan Karakorum Highway, on the Pamir plateau (roof of the world) visit Karakul Lake (3600m above sea level). The lake sits at the foot of the notorious, Muztagh Ata (7546m) and Gongur (7719m) mountains. ‘Muztagh Ata’ means Father of the Ice Mountain and is one of the most beautiful and mysterious mountains in the world.
Lunch will be at a local Kyrgyz family by Karakul lake.
Along the way stop at small Kyrgyz villages and Tajik villages. especially Tagharma Tajik village is very interesting,This village is located in between mountain and grassland, people are very friendly. You can pay a visit to one of the Tajik families and join their cup of tea.
Arrive Tashkorgan by dinner time and stay overnight
Day 3

Tashkorgan to Kashgar

Activities: Visit Stone Fort, Tajik village, Hike on the Grassland and drive back to Kashgar after lunch
Tashkurgan Tajik autonomous county was once an important hub on the old Silk Road. The area borders with Pakistan and Afghanistan via the Kunjerab Pass and Wahan Corridor.
After breakfast, you’ll have an opportunity to see the town’s ancient Stone Fort – still standing after 2200 years! ‘Tashkurgan’ is a translation of ‘Stone Fort.’ Later Hike on the grassland next to the Stone Fort.
After lunch, drive back to Kashgar and you can make stops along the way if you like.
Day 4

Explore Kashgar City

Activities: Visit Grand mosque, Apak Hoja tomb (which is also called Fragrant Concubine Tomb), Old city walking tours, livestock market and Sunday market
Explore the rich, endless culture of the Uighurs in Kashgar. First visit livestock market which happens on every Sunday and people bring their horses, sheep, goats, camels,cows,bulls,yaks and donkeys to the market for sale. It provides a great opportunity to take photos of the faces of local people, study traditional local market culture, test-drive a donkey or horse or even make its shoes. Like opening a window, today is a real glimpse into a time lost in the annals of the Silk Road’s past and an opportunity not to be missed.
Later move on to Sunday market main Bazaar which is considered one of the largest market in Central Asia. From fluffy sheepskin hats to rugged camel-hide boots, not to mention beads, buttons and buckets of locals. Everything – including plenty of kitchen sinks – is for sale at this fairytale bazaar. It is the best chance to practice your bargaining skills.
After lunch spend some time by the Id Kah mosque, the largest mosque in China and marvel at the intricate architecture of Kashgar’s historic Apak Hoja Tomb which is also known as Fragrant concubine tomb).
We’ll also spend time in the Kashgar Old Town and have some walking tours through some ancient historical parts; Stop at a century-old tea house for a short break and taste local medicinal teas such as those containing rose, saffron, honey and many other ingredients.
Day 5

Kashgar to Hotan
Hotel:West Lake International Hotel (4*)
Activities: Drive along the Southern Silk Road, stop in Yarkant, Kaghilik for sightseeing
We set out from Kashgar after breakfast, first stop at Yarkand for a few hours to enjoy local culture and do some sightseeing. visit the Golden Mosque (built in 1533) and its graveyard which includes several hundred-year-old tombs. Yarkand was once the capital of many Uighur Kingdoms in ancient times and an important station on the old Silk Road. It has more than 2000 years of history.
After Yarkand we’ll stop at Kargilik another former hub on the Silk Road. The Tibet highway starts from Kargilik and visit the grand mosque (1533) before drive on to Hotan
Day 6

Hotan City and Damako Temple Ruins
Hotel:West Lake International Hotel (4*)
Activities: Visit Damako ruins and city of Hotan.
Set out early in the morning drive 130km to Cheria county to visit the smallest Temple on earth with amazing Buddha paintings, murals and frescos of the 6th century on the rim of Taklamakan Desert.
Along the way enjoy a couple of nice friendly culture rich villages with farming lands.
After the visit drive the same way back just before Hotan city there is a famous place for roasted meat stuffed bun shop in Xinjiang for lunch or according to your requests.
Then visit famous hand work of Hotan people wool carpet factory and silk fabric factory both of these are famous products of Hotan all over in Xinjiang. if time allows Jade carving factory.
At the end of the day enjoy night market of Hotan with interesting choices of local foods for Dinner.
Day 7

Hotan to Kucha
Hotel:Kucha Grand Hotel (5 star building)
Activities: Drive through second largest shifting sand desert
An early start today as we set out for Kucha after breakfast and drive into the desert highway.
This desert highway was built from 2005 to 2007 and opened in 2008. it is one of the best and first class highways in Xinjiang. it is a best opportunity to enjoy the spectacular sceneries of Taklimakan desert which is the second largest shifting sand on the planet.
The word ‘Taklimakan’ means “Sea of Death”: ‘once you come in you can never go back.’ This is absolutely certain to be an unforgettable part of your trip and we arrive Kucha in the evening and check into our hotel.
Day 8

Kucha For Whole Day
Hotel:Kucha Grand Hotel (5 star building)
Activities: Visit Kizil Thousand Budha caves and Tianshan mysterious Grand Canyon
In the morning visit the Kizil Thousand Buddha caves which sits high on the cliffs over the Northern bank of the Muzat River, 75km (46miles) from Kucha city. The caves were hewn between the 3rd and 8th century and formed one of the earliest Buddhist art treasure troves in China. In fact the caves were in use one century before the famous Mogao Grottoes at Dunhuang.
we have lunch at a restuarant next to the caves and drive to Tianshan Grand Canyon which is about a little more than an hour distance from the caves. Tianshan Grand Canyon is located about 70km from Kucha city. The canyon is attractive not only for its colors but also the formation of the mountains there. Today, Tianshan Grand Canyon is regarded as one of the ten most beautiful in China.
Drive back to Kucha after a long and exciting one day trip and have dinner before going back to hotel.
Day 9

Kucha to Korla
Hotel:Silver Star Hotel (4-star)
Activities: Visit Kucha Grand mosque and old city, Subash Ancient Buddha ruins and Kizil Kagha Beacon tower. Then drive to Korla after lunch
After breakfast, we’ll spend time in old city area and visit Kucha’s Grand mosque. The mosque was built in the 17th Century and roof of the mosque was constructed with 300,000 eggs, cement and bricks.
Then drive to the ancient city of Subash (2nd-3rd century A.D.) as well as the Ancient Kizil Kagha Beacon tower which is an ancient military outpost. Then drive to Korla after lunch and arrive in the evening.
Day 10
2019-09-21 (Saturday)
Korla to Turpan
Hotel:Huozhou Hotel (4-star)
Activities: leave for Turpan after breakfast and arrive at about noon; After lunch visit Yargul (Jiaohe) Ancient city, Karez underground Irrigations system and Emin Minaret
Leave for Turpan after breakfast and arrive by Lunch time. then we begin our tour with Yargul Ancient city which is one of the best preserved ancient cities in China. The ruins of the buildings are divided into temples, civilian dwellings and government offices. Workshops, residential houses and the streets are still visible and time there is a time spent in a long lost world.
After an hour of visiting around the ancient city, we drive to see the world famous Karez irrigation system, unique to this part of the world. The system is considered as one of the three great projects in China with the other two being the Great Wall and the Grand Canal.
Then visit Emin Suliman minaret which is a magnificent combination of ancient Uighur and Islamic architecture. It is the tallest ancient tower in Xinjiang and the only Islamic ancient minaret in the country. Locals call it “pure tower”.
Day 11

Turpan For Whole Day

Activities: Visit Idikut (Gaochang) ancient city, Astana tombs, Toyuq village, Bizeklik Thousand Buddha caves and Flaming Mountains
After breakfast We start our exciting day in Turpan with a visit to the ancient city of Idikut (Gaochang). The city was first built in the first Century BC and later became capital of the Idikut (Gaochang) Uighur Kingdom in the 8th Century. We’ll spend one hour in this ancient city and then drive to Karakhoja Astana tombs, a Tang-dynasty burial ground which is also known as the “Underground Museum”. Astana means “capital” in the Uighur language and Karakhoja is a name of a legendary hero of an ancient Uighur Kingdom who saved his people by killing a vicious dragon.
Move on to Toyuq village, an old, beautiful and timeless village with a friendly Uighur community. Here we visit several local families and have lunch with a local family at their home. This could be the highlight of your tour of the day.
After lunch visit Bizeklik Thousand Buddha caves which used to be an important center for Buddhist worshipers under the Xizhou Huigu government of the Idikut (Gaochang) Kingdom.
On the way back to the hotel we will stop at the Flaming Mountains which people claimed to be the hottest and driest along the silk road that “flying birds even a thousand miles away dare not to come”.
Day 12

Turpan to Dunhuang By Fast Speed Train
Hotel:Fuguo Hotel (4 star)
Activities: Take fast speed train to Dunhuang and visit Crescent Lake and Mingsha Echo-sand Mountain.
After breakfast at the hotel, take fast speed train to Dunhuang which takes around 3.00 hours. Our guide and driver from Dunhuang will pick up you from Liuyuan train station and then drive to Dunhuang city.
First have lunch and then visit Mysterious Crescent lake which its name derives from the crescent moon, shaped by the small pool of spring water between two large sand dunes. Here you’ll have chance to ride camels across the sand dunes of Sounding Sand mountain which makes sounds when the wind blows (camel is on your own expenses). you could enjoy the sunset and back to hotel later
Day 13

Dunhuang to Xi’an

Activities: After breakfast Visit Mogao Grottoes; After lunch take afternoon flight to Xi’an
We spend the whole morning at Mogao Grottoes which were constructed over a millennium ago from the 4th to 14th centuries. The caves are also known as the Thousand Buddha Caves with two distinctions of being one of the most notable grottoes in China as well as the best-preserved treasure house of Buddhist art, sutras, murals and sculptures in the world.
After lunch our guide and driver see you off at Dunhuang airport for your flight to Xi’an.
Our Xi’an local driver and guide will pick up you from Xi’an airport and transfer to your hotel
Day 14

Explore Xi’an For Whole Day

Activities: Visit Terra-Cotta Warriors; Bell Tower; Wild Goose Pagoda and Hui Mosque
After breakfast, we start our wonderful one day tour with a visit to Terra-Cotta Warriors which is one of the greatest archaeological discoveries of the 20th century. This site is about an hour drive from Xi’an city.
After lunch Visit Bell tower which is located in downtown area. it is a Chinese traditional building and geographical center of the ancient capital, best preserved and largest wooden tower in China.
After an hour here we continue our tour to wild goose Pagoda which is a well preserved ancient holy building for Buddhism.
Finally visit Hui grand mosque located in Hui minority area, construction of the mosque has rich Chinese features combined with Arabic style. It is one of the oldest and largest mosque in China.
